Newtonmore and the adjacent village of Kingussie have a variety of places to eat at lunchtime or in the evening, it really just depends on what you feel like at the time.
NEWTONMORE
The Glen Hotel: A two minute walk from Eagle view where Chris and Kim offer great value and good quality food either in their lounge bar or separate dinning room. Look out for the Specials board!! Regularly voted regional 'Pub of the Year' by CAMRA.
The Balavil Hotel: A seven minute walk from Eagle View. The Coyle family took over the Balavil at the end of 2011. Fraser has the kitchen licked into shape, so the restaurant is now well worth a visit! Good honest food and plentiful servings.
The Braeriach Hotel: A four minute walk from Eagle View where Dell and Sam offer a good range of bar suppers in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
The Letterbox:* A five minute walk from Eagle View. The ambience is warm and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. Fine dining the way it should be and well worth a visit during your stay.
The Newtonmore Grill: A four minute walk from Eagle View. Our Truck Stop, but most definitely NOT a greasy spoon. Big hearty meals in clean, well-presented, surroundings. There is also a bar area where Derek will gladly chat about the local colour and just about anything else in mind.
There are also two coffee shops and a Bistro in the village offering morning coffees, afternoon teas, lunches and early evening meals.
KINGUSSIE
The village of Kingussie is just over 2 miles along the road from Newtonmore and offers a similar variety of eating places.
The Cross:* This restaurant is the recipient of several awards and recognitions and offers really fine dinning for that extra special occasion.
The Silverfjord: This hotel recently under new ownership, offers really excellent bar meals and dinners at very affordable prices.
Further afield, there is a good choice of restaurants in Aviemore and Grantown-on-Spey, too numerous to mention here, but look out especially for ROO’S LEAP an Australian burger bar, THE OLD BRIDGE INN and THE ORD BAN RESTAURANT AND CAFE* at Aviemore.
A special mention for CRAGGAN MILL* just south of Grantown-on-Spey. Arguably one of Scotland's finest restaurants, well worth the drive and stunning views en-route.
For the restaurants marked * we strongly advise that you make a booking in advance, we are happy to do this for you, if you wish. |
